Membership Agreement

Having received Christ as my Lord and Savior, and having been baptized, and being in agreement with their statements, strategy and structure, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with Promise Ministries Church family. In doing so, I commit myself to God and to other family members to do the following:

I Will Protect the Unity of My Church

  • By acting in love toward other members
  • By refusing to gossip
  • By following the leaders

“In this way aim for harmony in the church, and try to build each other up.
Romans 14:19 (TLB)

“May God who gives patience, steadiness, and encouragement help you to live in
complete harmony with each other – each with the attitude of Christ toward the other.”

Romans 15:5 (TLB)

“Now you can have real love for everyone because your souls have been cleansed from selfishness and hatred when you trusted Christ to save you; so see to it that you really do love each other warmly, with all your hearts.”
1 Peter 1:22 (TLB)

“Do not let unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for
building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

“Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be no advantage to you.”
Hebrews 13:17 (NIV)

I Will Share In the Responsibility of My Church

  • By praying for its growth
  • By inviting the un-churched to attend
  • By warmly welcoming those who visit

“We always thank God for you and pray for you constantly.”
1 Thessalonians 1:2 (TLB)

“Well, then,’ said his master, ‘Go out into the country lanes and out behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.”
Luke 14:23 (TLB)

“So warmly welcome each other into the church, just as Christ had warmly welcomed
you; then God will be glorified.”

Romans 15:7 (TLB)

I Will Serve the Ministry of My Church

  • By discovering my gifts and talents
  • By being equipped to serve my pastors
  • By developing a servant’s heart

“God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.”
1 Peter 4:10 (TLB)

“It was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.”
Ephesians 4:11-12 (NIV)

“Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who,being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.”
Philippians 2: 4-7 (NIV)

I Will Support the Testimony of My Church

  • By attending faithfully
  • By living a Godly life
  • By giving regularly

“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let usencourage one another-and all the more as you see the day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25 (NIV)

“But whatever happens to me, remember always to live as Christians should, so that
whether I ever see you again or not, I will keep on hearing good reports that you are standing side by side with one strong purpose-to tell the Good News.”

Philippians 1:27 (TLB)

“On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.”
